Press for Freedom,
Part One
Roy Greenslade, a prominent journalist with more than forty years of experience, presents this special BBC World Service series on freedom of the press. He probes limits on journalism in democratic societies as well as those where the government controls the press.
PART 1

In the United States, Freedom of the Press is guaranteed by our First Amendment. But in some other nations, journalists are hampered by severe government restraints. Roy Greenslade reports from Russia, where a prominent journalist was killed in 2006. He speaks with Zimbabwean journalists, who must live abroad to continue their work. He also focuses on the risks and challenges of reporting from a war zone such as Iraq.
PART 2

Internet blogs are springing up in countries where there are few traditional outlets for political expression. From Iran to China, and Iraq to Burma, bloggers are sharing their experiences with people around the world. In this documentary produced for the BBC World Service, Roy Greenslade reports on the impact of blogs -- and whether we can trust what we read in them.
