In this documentary produced for the BBC World Service, we bridge the cultural disconnect that pervades our understanding of the history of science. Our guide is Jim al-Khalili. Born in Iraq, he's now a professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Surrey In England.

Jim al-Khalili investigates why the great scientists from the ancient Islamic world are not as widely recognized today as he believes they deserve to be.
