Globalization helped the world to prosper. It also helped America's economic crisis spread around the world. The BBC’s Michael Robinson reports on the increasingly desperate efforts to stave off a global economic slump.

But when bad times hit, international ties can drag countries down -- and make it harder to bounce back. Michael Robinson goes to Eastern Europe to see how America's economic crisis has echoed around the world, and to examine efforts to reverse the downturn.
