FARM SWAP
A farmer from Ecuador goes to work with a farmer in Hawaii. A British farmer works the land in rural Hungary. The BBC’s Mike Gallagher examines the challenges and benefits of multicultural farm swaps in an increasingly globalized world.
FIRST HALF

In many ways the Hawaiian Islands are a farmer’s paradise, with rich soil and year-round crop growth. Pedro, an Ecuadorian farmer, takes advantage of a unique program that allows him to work alongside Chuck, a farmer in Hawaii. The goal for both is an increased understanding of sustainable agriculture. The BBC’s Mike Gallagher tags along on this multicultural farm swap.
SECOND HALF

Andrew Hunter is a British farmer who works vast landholdings in Hungary and Serbia. But in many ways, the actual farming is among the least of Andrew’s challenges as he confronts social and cultural differences. In this documentary produced for the BBC World Service, Mike Gallagher uses Andrew’s story to consider the future of globalized agriculture.
