In 2003, a U-S missile landed next to a farmhouse near Baghdad. Sixteen family members were killed. Young Ali Abbas survived, but lost both of his arms. The boy quickly became the human face of the Iraq War. The BBC's Hugh Sykes reports on how Ali, now a young man, is living his life, and what his hopes are for the future.

We meet up with Ali, living in London, as he studies for his citizenship test. We also witness his meeting with Kim Phuc, the girl in the iconic 1972 photo, taken as she fled a napalm attack in Vietnam that seared the clothes from her body and left her badly burned. They compare notes on their lasting injuries, and she encourages him not to give up hope of finding a romantic partner.

We join Ali, who's gone back to Baghdad. The heat there makes it impossible for him to wear his prosthetic arms, so he is even more dependent on the care of others. We also meet his family members, some of whom are trying to play matchmaker for Ali.
