AUDIO HELP
The Changing World website allows you to listen to our documentaries in two ways -- as individually downloaded MP3s, or as a podcast.

What Are RSS Feeds and Podcasts?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) enables you to automatically receive text and audio content from your favorite online sources. To receive an RSS feed, you simply need an RSS news reader or RSS aggregator, which are available for free online. You then tell your news reader or aggregator which feeds you would like to receive, and it will regularly check these sources and compile the latest content for you in one place.

It's a simple process, but it varies, depending on the reader or aggregator you are using. Some readers, like Bloglines, are web-based and you can check your feeds from any location. Others, such as FeedReader, are a simple program you need to install on your computer. We recommend you review this beginner's guide to help you get started.

Podcasting
A "podcast" is an RSS feed that includes an audio file, usually in the form of a downloadable MP3. You can listen to the MP3 file directly from your desktop, or you can transfer it to an iPod or other portable music player. There is also software available, such as iPodder, which allows the MP3 files to transfer automatically onto your portable device.

THE CHANGING WORLD is the sister documentary series of PRI's The World. Each week, we offer American radio listeners two in-depth documentaries from the BBC World Service that probe issues critical to our understanding of our evolving world.
